The Chaffee County Fair occurs annually, the end of July to the first part of August. The Salida Museum was opened in 1954, using two back rooms of the Hot Springs Pool. The museum was founded and operated by Harriet Alexander. When Mrs. Alexander died in 1971, she left funds to build the current museum building. The current location has been in use since 1975, serving the City of Salida and Chaffee County as a source of historical information. The purpose of the Salida Spartan Athletic Booster Club is to celebrate and support all Spartan athletes and coaches. Membership is one of the many ways the group collects funds to support athletics in the form of team grants, athlete and coach dinners, and scholarships for graduating seniors.
