Articipate is a Salida-based, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to showing the importance of the arts in society today. The Chaffee County Fair occurs annually, the end of July to the first part of August. The Fairgrounds offer many amenities, including a 6,000-foot exhibit hall, meeting room with demonstration kitchen, commercial kitchen, a 10,000-foot event center, open-air livestock pavilion, two outdoor arenas, paved and unpaved parking, RV park with electricity and livestock and horse stalls.

The Salida Museum was opened in 1954, using two back rooms of the Hot Springs Pool. The museum was founded and operated by Harriet Alexander. When Mrs. Alexander died in 1971, she left funds to build the current museum building. The current location has been in use since 1975, serving the City of Salida and Chaffee County as a source of historical information. The Museum Association also owns and maintains the Maysville School and the Smelter Smokestack as historical landmarks

Ark Valley Humane Society (AVHS) maintains a compassionate no-kill animal shelter for homeless, lost and unwanted pets without regard for time or space.
