Chaffee County is working incredibly hard to make sure that their residents and visitors are safe in addition to making sure your time here is as enjoyable as possible. ***CCPH Provides Update on Respiratory Illness Season. Click HERE for the details.
****(CCPH) has finally received its first shipment of annual COVID vaccine for those who have private insurance and are 12 years old and older.  CCPH also has COVID vaccine for those who are 6 months and older and are uninsured or underinsured.  CCPH will be offering additional extended clinic hours throughout the fall and winter season to meet local demand.  Influenza vaccine is also available at CCPH, with the exception of high dose for underinsured and uninsured.  Getting both COVID and flu vaccines at the same time is safe and effective.  To make an appointment, contact CCPH at 719-539-4510.

– Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines (remember booster for ages 5+ and a second booster for ages 50+)
Get tested if you have symptoms
– People may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.

CDC Releases Simplified Guidelines for COVID Vaccines and Recommends Second Bivalent Dose for Ages 65+ and Immunocompromised:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has taken steps to simplify COVID-19 vaccine recommendations and allow more flexibility for people at higher risk who want the option of added protection from additional COVID-19 bivalent vaccine doses. CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) met last week to discuss these COVID-19 vaccine recommendation changes and expressed their support for these recommendations. How can I best protect myself and others when I come to visit?

  • Self-screen before going out into public spaces. Self-screening includes checking for symptoms such as: cough, shortness of breath, chills, sore throat, loss of taste, feverish or muscle pain. We ask that you refrain visiting us in Salida if these symptoms are present.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Wash and disinfect your hands before interacting with an employee or another visitor
  • Maintain at least six feet of separation from other individuals not within the same household.
  • Wear a face mask that covers the nose and mouth, especially when interacting with an individual within six feet or indoors.

COVID-19 Symptoms typically appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus and include:

  • New loss of taste or smell.
  • Fever or chills.
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
  • Muscle or body aches.
  • Sore throat.
  • Congestion or runny nose.
  • Nausea or vomiting.
