Salida Soup is a monthly community-based potluck where participants, through this microgranting dinner, assist a variety of projects in the Upper Arkansas River Valley. Check out the newly remodeled Salida Scout Hut!  All are welcome to come join us for some country-western dance instruction followed by open country-western dancing to recorded music.  Music will be country two-step, waltz, and swing.  Lessons will be taught starting at 7 pm, followed by open dancing at 7:30 pm at the newly remodeled Salida Rotary Scout Hut.  This month's lesson will be east coast swing.  Partners are not required.  Cost is $5.  The dance is sponsored by Arkansas Valley Music and Dance.

Walden Chamber Music Society Second Concert of the Season Sunday, February 24th at 3:00pm at the SteamPlant Theater On Sunday, February 24, the Walden Chamber Music Society will continue its 14th concert season with music by  Jean Cras, Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms.  At 2:00pm, artistic director Jo Boatright will give a thirty minute “Informance” where she will explain and demonstrate the music to be performed, followed by the concert at 3:00pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and free for students. Salida Aspen Concerts, entering its 43rd season, is holding a volunteer coffee at the home of Auralea Carroll, 112 Park Place, Salida. The gathering will feature coffee, tea and pastries for those interested in being a volunteer for the upcoming season. Salida Aspen Concerts brings to Chaffee County top international classical music stars from the prestigious Aspen Music Festival and School. The concerts are held at the Salida High School, 26 Jones Avenue. The new season will begin Saturday, July 6 and run each Saturday thereafter through August 10. Run Through Time Marathon and Half Marathon

Arkansas Hills Trail System Run Through Time Marathon and Half Marathon Saturday, March 9th The 14th Annual Run Through Time Trail Marathon and Half Marathon will take place on the Arkansas Hills Trail System in Salida. Currently the half marathon field is around 70% full, and the marathon field is around 65% full, so if you're interested in racing, plan on registering sometime soon. There will also be a 2 mile fun run and a free kids fun run on race day. $6,000 from last year's race was donated to Salida Mountain Trails, and the plan is to donate an equal amount from the 2019 event. Does your organization have a great plan, along with the capacity to carry out your proposal? Can you clearly explain your desired outcomes?   This workshop is for you.   You will learn to: Craft compelling cover letters. Understand and use the Colorado Common Grant application. Construct a data-based narrative of the challenge or opportunity you are proposing. Define the specific, measurable outcomes of your proposal and then demonstrate that your organization can deliver them. Create clear, concise project budgets. She has a BA in American Studies from Michigan State University and a MA in Arts Administration from UC-CCM. Sydney is a CFRE and the past President of the Board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Cincinnati chapter.   Ruthann Schoeffield, MNM, has been a part of the nonprofit world for nearly 40 years. As a 25-year resident of Chaffee County, her instructional emphasis has been on empowering rural, grassroots nonprofits to secure mission-driven resources to benefit the wider community. Ruthann’s nonprofit expertise has supported international, national, regional and local nonprofit organizations over the years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Art from the State University of New York and a Masters in Nonprofit Management degree from Regis University.   Mike Orrill is the Regional Health Connector/Special Projects Coordinator with Chaffee County Public Health for the past almost 2 years.  His primary responsibility is to connect health and wellness sectors/practitioners in a four-county region with the resources they need to help them meet their health and wellness goals.  His areas of focus are: opioids/addiction, LGBTQ, diabetes, homelessness.
