The Ivy Ballroom at the Surf Hotel is proud to host the torch bearers of the McCoury family legacy, The Travelin’ McCourys; who are taking the traditional string band sound to new levels of intensity and joy. Come and enjoy a concert at the Surf Hotel’s world-class venue on December 13th, 2018.

The McCoury brothers-Ronnie (mandolin) and Rob (banjo) – were born into the bluegrass tradition.  Talk about a source abundant and pure: their father, Del, is among the most influential and successful musicians in the history of the genre. Years on the road with Dad in the Del McCoury Band honed their knife-edge chops and encouraged the duo to imagine how traditional bluegrass could cut innovative pathways into 21st-century music.

No other band today has the same credentials for playing traditional and progressive music. As the sons of bluegrass legend Del McCoury, Ronnie McCoury on mandolin and Rob McCoury on banjo continue their father’s work—a lifelong dedication to the power of bluegrass music to bring joy into people’s lives. And with fiddler Jason Carter and bassist Alan Bartram, the ensemble is loved and respected by the bluegrass faithful. But the band is now combining their sound with others to make something fresh and rejuvenating.
