BVMA’s AIARE 1 – Snowshoe Specific

Buena Vista Mountain Adventures Presents: DECISION MAKING IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN, DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR SNOWSHOERS March 22-24, 2024 Do you want to snowshoe in or near avalanche terrain? This class is for students who use snowshoes to travel on snow. AIARE 1 is a three-day / 24-hour introduction to avalanche hazard management. Students can expect to develop a good grounding in how to prepare for and carry out a backcountry trip, to understand basic decision making while in the field, and to learn rescue techniques required to find and dig up a buried person (if an avalanche occurs and someone in the party is caught). Colorado TINTS Presents “Chasing Grace” a Fundraiser Performance

"Chasing Grace" will be a fundraiser performance on March 30th at the SteamPlant. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the show will start at 7pm. In honor of International Women's Month, twenty-two local women are donating their time and talent to present an evening of dance, poetry, live painting, comedy, aerial and song in support of 'Girls With Books.' GWB is a Colorado non profit that supports girls education in South Sudan. Since 2008, Colorado TINTS, Salida Circus and local individuals have supported their efforts through fundraisers, donation drives and by arranging presentations at Chaffee County schools, community centers, churches, etc. (At this moment, one one our performers, River Tribe director Donna Lester, is in South Sudan teaching the young women of GWB how to use IPads!) All proceeds from our March 30th show "Chasing Grace" will go to Girls With Books. Production costs are approximately $525 (Steam Plant rent is $225; advertising costs approximately $300). If you would like to help us cover production costs, you make make a tax deductible donation here, or email Coloradotints@gmail.com. All donors will be listed as a sponsor. April 4th Bruce Hays live 2 shows- 2:30-4:00 Older Adult Music Series free! 6:00 doors open 6:30 show tix $15 at the door. Singer/Songwriter Bruce Hayes will perform a concert of original music on a variety of instruments including Mandolin, Dobro, Guitars, and Charango. Doors open at 6:00pm, show time 6:30pm. Tickets $15 at the door.  The eccentric mindset of acoustic musician Bruce Hayes has been an influential part of the Colorado music scene for over 3 decades.  He helped define the modern day “jam band” genre, having collaborated on the early works of the String Cheese Incident and Acoustic Junction. He continues to explore and expand the horizons and possibilities of electro-acoustic multi-ethnicity. Hayes has a passion for acoustic instruments – both their sound and their heritage. Live, the instruments become as much the performer as Hayes, accompanied by an amplified percussive foot board of his own design.
