Naturalist Education Series with GARNA and the Salida Regional Library

When we all do our part, we keep forest healthy, protect our parks, keep wildlife strong and ensure everyone is welcomed to enjoy these remarkable places together. Join the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association (GARNA) and the Salida Regional Library for a three-part naturalist education series to train the public on how to be effective naturalists and stewards of our public lands. Come join us to learn! Each program is stand alone, so attend one, or attend all. The program meets at 5:30pm at the Library in the Tolkien Room. The program is free but limited to 30 people. FILM at the SteamPlant: High Country- A Documentary about Crested Butte on Wednesday, April 17th and April 24th from 7-9pm.  "Is Chaffee County the Last Real Western Community?" A film about how if you don’t take care of a place you risk losing it forever. Entrenched in nostalgia, HIGH COUNTRY tells a timeless American story of how a community of conscientious and forward-thinking young people, disguised as ski bums and hippies, happened upon a ramshackle mining town on the fringe of society and worked to conserve and protect it for years to come. Presented by Colorado Headwaters, the evening program includes the documentary film and a panel discussion following on the topics of community and conservation. Tickets: $10.00 Doors at 6:30pm; Film at 7:00pm
