Wassail with Guidestone
January 22, 2023 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
We are excited to introduce a new winter tradition at the Hutchinson Homestead, which has its roots in old England. The word “wassail” comes from the Angle-Saxon phrase “waes hael”, which means”‘good health”. In January, people put toast on the branches of apple trees to celebrate and fertilize the trees to produce a good crop in the upcoming season, and sang traditional English songs to celebrate the oldest apple tree in the orchard. Help us honor the Hutchinson Homestead’s small orchard, with trees up to 140 years old!
Please join us January 22nd for hot cider & history, and to tour the historic Ranch house and toast our apple trees!
Tickets open early January. You’ll be able to find them on our website and through Eventbrite.
