Unsatisfying communication is common today. In relationships between spouses, parents, and children, among neighbors and co-workers. So, how can we change deeply ingrained cultural patterns? Is it possible to bring about a shift in the fashion of communication that dominates society today? The best place to begin shifting our patterns of communication is with the quality of listening…. both to ourselves and to others. The Talking Stick is a tool used in many Native American Traditions when a council is called. It allows all members to present their Point of View. People responsible for holding any type of meeting are required to make their own Talking Stick which can be used when they teach children, hold any size meeting, make decisions regarding disputes, hold gatherings or conduct an event where more than one person will speak. In this 2 hour workshop we will:  Practice a simple energy technique that helps us quiet our mind and tune into the energy of interpersonal communication.  Learn how to use open ended questions to energize and facilitate conversations.  Use a Talking Stick to ensure complete communication and listening.  Each participant creates a personal Talking Stick using elements of plant, animal, mineral and human worlds which they can take home and use to continue the practice and growth of deep listening.
