DECISION MAKING IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN SKI & SPLITBOARD
Snowshoers Please See Our Snowshoe Specific Course Here.
AIARE 1 is a three-day / 24-hour introduction to avalanche hazard management. Students can expect to develop a good grounding in how to prepare for and carry out a backcountry trip, to understand basic decision making while in the field, and to learn rescue techniques required to find and dig up a buried person (if an avalanche occurs and someone in the party is caught). This course is in partnership with Salida Parks & Rec and anyone that signs up for the course with a Chaffee County address will receive a discount when checking out. Direct questions to reservations@bvmountainadventures.com or 719-966-9939.
The course will start each morning at the Salida Steamplant Annex building and then each day students explore a different field location in the backcountry.
