Ark Aces Rafting Team Phone: 719-221-4711 Email: arkacesraftingteam@gmail.com   Find love…of rafting with the Ark Paddlers at Soulcraft on Valentine’s Day   Join US Rafting Association Women's Masters and U19 Division Raft Racing Team, the Ark Aces and the Dandy Lions, at Soulcraft on Friday, February 14, for a Valentine’s Day Bash. The event is a fundraiser to support the National Champions’ trip to Ziyuan, China in August, 2020 for the International Rafting Federation’s World  Rafting Championships. Roundhouse Assembly will provide music from 7-9 pm, Ark Aces gear will be available for purchase, and the Salida Starlettes will perform.   Through the sport of rafting, the teams’ mission is to inspire and empower women of all ages by demonstrating physical and mental strength while building our local community of rafting, river play, and river stewardship. Participation as a Master’s Division team requires that all participants are over 40 years old. Ark Aces team members include team captain Samantha Barron, Cari Beasley, Chris Smejkal, Julie Sutton, Dominique Naccarato, and Samantha Bahn. Participation on the U19 team requires participants are under 19 years old. Dandy Lions team members include Lori Cassidy, Jade Barron, Jaime Sanchez and Claire Carlson.   The US Rafting Association (USRA) is the governing body for whitewater raft racing in the United States. The USRA works with the International Rafting Federation and other national governing bodies throughout the world to make sure the United States is represented in international competition. The USRA also strives to promote the sport of raft racing in the United States from a local level to a national level. Teams selected through the National Championship Series represent the United States in international competition. The USRA continually strives to grow the sport within the USA and is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.   The International Rafting Federation (IRF) is the official umbrella International Sports Federation for national rafting organizations worldwide, and IRF administers all aspects of rafting around the world. Beginning on August 22, 2020, athletes will convene in Ziyuan, China to compete in the prestigious IRF World Rafting Championships racing against their peers on the tropical waters of the WuPai river. Ziyan will will welcome over 600 athletes, support crew, and officials.   Stay tuned for other US Women’s Rafting fundraisers this spring, including a raft film movie night at A Church on March 6, and a boat exchange in April, sponsored by Riverboat Works.
