Apogee Art Studio Closing Show/Sale

Salida Scout Hut

Apogee Studio, the artwork studio of Fay Golson, will be closing soon. There will be an artwork sale with drastically reduced prices at the Salida Scout Hut on Friday, Feb 16, from 10am to 5 pm. Many sizes and price variations will be shown. Fay will be moving to Billings, Mt where she has delivered and sold her artwork to The Yellowstone Art Museum on several occasions. “I am saddened to leave Salida and its generous and warm population, my many friends, and the beautiful  surroundings. But time marches on. Please stop by Friday to see the artworks that are available or just to say hello/goodbye.

Ski with a Naturalist with GARNA at Monarch Mountain Join GARNA for a free naturalist tour every other Friday at 11am to learn about forest ecology, wildlife in the winter, the history of recreation on Monarch Pass and the partnership of the USFS and Monarch. A guest volunteer interpreter leads the tour, sharing additional information from their area of expertise.  The tour is free, a valid lift ticket/pass is required.  Dates: February 2, 16, March 1, 15 Have you ever wondered… Who owns the land we’re skiing/boarding on? When did Monarch open and what is the oldest run? How can animals thrive in this winter environment? What kinds of trees live up here? What is causing many of the trees to die? How can you tell when avalanches are more likely to occur? What are the names of some of the surrounding peaks? How is Monarch different from other Colorado ski areas? Join a Volunteer Interpreter for a fun, free on-mountain educational tour. Learn about the history of recreation on Monarch Pass, the ski area-USFS partnership, forest ecology, wildlife in the winter, and more. Meet Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at the sign near the Cat Skiing Yurt across from the Pioneer lift. Guests of all ages and abilities are welcome. The tour is free, follows all beginner runs and lasts for about an hour. A lift ticket or season pass is required.
