The Chaffee Housing Authority was formed in October of 2019 through agreements between Chaffee County, Buena Vista, and Salida, with the purpose of ensuring all Chaffee County residents and workers have access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.

The League of Women Voters of Chaffee County (LWVCC) is a nonpartisan political organization open to all men and women of voting age, members of all political parties and unaffiliated voters. The Chaffee County League was formed in 2003 and today has more than 100 members — including women and men of all ages from Buena Vista, Poncha Springs, Salida, and elsewhere in the county. The League encourages informed and active participation in government; works to increase understanding of major public policy issues; influences public policy through education and advocacy; and holds public meetings to present and discuss local issues. Monthly programs are open to the public and cover a wide range of issues important to the county and state.
