Foodshed Alliance Farmers Market in Salida
Considered one of Colorado’s most breathtaking regions, the Arkansas River Valley is home to expansive ranches and farmland. With its abundant resources, fresh water and mild climate, Foodshed Alliance’s earliest founders recognized the valley’s potential for supporting a local food economy. Experience the Arkansas River Valley and its local food systems at a Foodshed Alliance Farmers Market. With two locations - Buena Vista and Salida - Foodshed Alliance Farmers Markets showcase and complement some of Chaffee County’s most vibrant communities. Both farmers markets begin on Saturday June 1st 2024. The Buena Vista farmers market is held at Columbine Park (51 Linderman Avenue) from 9 am - 1 pm on Saturdays June 1st thru October 5th. Open Gate at Badger Creek Ranch
Badger Creek Ranch is hosting a free event on Saturday, August 24 from 10 am - 4 pm. Learn more and register for Full Circle: The Story of Riparian Restoration of the Badger Creek Watershed Register for this free event HERE This family-friendly field day is free to the public. There will be presentations with a ranchers panel and storytelling, followed by tours of the riparian area, wagon rides and visits with the horses and farm animals. Light fare, featuring Badger Creek Ranch beef, will be offered. While the ranch has hosted open gates before, they were more activity focused. The watershed project is a collaboration with Central Colorado Conservancy, which is one of the event sponsors. There will also be draft horse shuttles for the mobility challenged.
