A weekly group for parents or caregivers of young children. Offering a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to gather with a professional and other parents. This group will provide empathy, information and resources and practical help to parents as they navigate the challenges of raising small children. FREE CHILDCARE and light snacks will be provided. Inspirational, motivational, and empowering workout for women and young girls of all ages. This calisthenics based workout will build self-esteem, self-worth and self-love through mindful exercise and motivational speech. It is a workout that encourages personal growth, bravery and confidence. Light weights and body weight are used for resistance. After selling The Cellar on Railroad this summer, she purchased the bvcowork in Buena Vista, Colorado, and launched her own consulting company, CB Wine Consulting. She is currently a Budget Analyst for CDHS, a Certified Sommelier, and the Treasurer for the Women’s Wine Guild of Colorado. Candace has a Master’s in Education and an MBA in Finance from the University of Central Arkansas. When she’s not training for ultra-marathons, Candace enjoys spending time with her husband Grant, and their two Weimaraners - Jasper and Althea. She also enjoys working with new business owners and entrepreneurs to develop solid business plans and pro forma financial statements.

When we all do our part, we keep forest healthy, protect our parks, keep wildlife strong and ensure everyone is welcomed to enjoy these remarkable places together. Join the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association (GARNA) and the Salida Regional Library for a three-part naturalist education series to train the public on how to be effective naturalists and stewards of our public lands. Come join us to learn! Each program is stand alone, so attend one, or attend all. The program meets at 5:30pm at the Library in the Tolkien Room. The program is free but limited to 30 people. Buena Vista Mountain Adventures Presents: DECISION MAKING IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN, DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR SNOWSHOERS March 22-24, 2024 Do you want to snowshoe in or near avalanche terrain? This class is for students who use snowshoes to travel on snow. AIARE 1 is a three-day / 24-hour introduction to avalanche hazard management. Students can expect to develop a good grounding in how to prepare for and carry out a backcountry trip, to understand basic decision making while in the field, and to learn rescue techniques required to find and dig up a buried person (if an avalanche occurs and someone in the party is caught). LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the AIARE 1 course, the student should be able to: Develop a plan for travel in avalanche terrain Demonstrate the ability to identify avalanche terrain Effectively use The AIARE Risk Management Framework to make terrain choices in a group setting Demonstrate effective companion rescue Click here to register and for more information!

The Lodge at Poncha Springs will be hosting an intimate concert on March 22nd at the Lodge in the Hunger Shack dining room featuring a soulful South by Southwest band, The Acoustic Minds, for an evening of melody and song. The AM are from Portland, Oregon and the band describes their music as "Moody Twinned Soul Pop".  These two musical and identical twins by birth performed at the Lodge last year to an enthusiastic audience, and this year's show is looking to be just as good. The concrete is FREE!  It begins at 7pm and goes until the musical twins play.  Come and enjoy some great artists with us at the Lodge!
