Salida SteamPlant Annex Salida, CO, United States02/21-23/2025 Every day, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Steamplant Annex | 220 West Sackett Avenue, Annex is next door to the Steamplant Event Center, Salida, CO, 81201 AIARE 1: Decision Making in Avalanche Terrain AIARE 1 is a three-day / 24-hour introduction to avalanche hazard management. Students can expect to develop foundational skills in preparing for and carrying out a backcountry trip, understand basic decision-making while in the field, and learn rescue techniques required to find and dig up a buried person (if an avalanche occurs and someone in the party is caught). AIARE 1 is for ANYONE, regardless of the method of travel, who wants to recreate in or near avalanche terrain. Participants may have attended some awareness classes or workshops or completed an Avalanche Rescue or AIARE Prep course; there are no prerequisites for this course. Parent Toolkit for Kids Class
Boys & Girls Club-SalidaThe Parent Toolkit for Kids class will be running on Monday nights, 5:30pm-7:30pm, from January 27th-February 24th at the Boys and Girls Club in Salida. This class is designed for parents and caregivers of children ages 9-14, to help them support their kids in making good choices. Some of the topics that will be covered include: The class is free of charge, and dinner will be provided! Free childcare will also be available for children up to age 14. Synergy In the Service Industry Hosts Stand-Up for Mental Health Comedy Show at A Church!
A ChurchSynergy in the Service Industry, a local nonprofit, has teamed up with the Yay Foundation to present Stand Up for Mental Health on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 6:00 PM at A Church in Salida. This exciting event aims to break the stigma surrounding mental health and promote open conversation, featuring comedy performances by local talent alongside Aidan Park, the Yay Foundation’s founder. In the lead-up to the event, the Yay Foundation will host three workshops to help food and beverage workers craft their own 5-minute comedy sets, encouraging vulnerability and connection through humor. The evening will also include a resource fair with local organizations and a drawing to raise funds for mental health sessions, further supporting this vital cause.
