Every Friday from 9-1 we will be Crafting at A Church! We have some ideas for crafts on hand or if you have a project you need to finish bring it out. We have some supplies for our suggested craft, but for some ideas you might have to bring something.... we suggest reusing what you have..... We can still make the mushroom garland but will be making holiday garland and other paper crafts. If you want to make the mushroom garland bring 6 hollowed out cuties (little oranges) cut in 1/2 and dried. ~Bring old cards or fun paper to make gift tags. ~Bring random yarn for yarn baskets. We also invite yo to sew, cross stitch, felt, etc. Charles will be here to teach basic skills about leatherwork. Lunch is provided by Pizza Rio!

February 5 at 10:15 am ET/ 8:15 am MT, the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce will be holding a hearing where Denver Pipefitters Local 208 Business Manager and Coloradans for Energy Access President Gary Arnold will be testifying. The hearing is titled “Powering America’s Future: Unleashing American Energy” and will discuss expanding domestic energy production and delivery to protect national security, lower costs for consumers, and grow manufacturing and information technology sectors. AIARE 1 - Snowshoe Friday February 07-09, 2025 Do you want to snowshoe in or near avalanche terrain? This class is for students who use snowshoes to travel on snow. AIARE 1 is a three-day / 24-hour introduction to avalanche hazard management. Buena Vista Mountain Adventures (BVMA) Owner, Tommy Gram-Ahlene will lead this community conversation. Learn about the 9 different avalanche problems and how to observe, manage, and make informed decisions when touring in the backcountry. What to Expect: An overview of the formation of the layered mountain snowpack Avalanche Problems and how to observe and manage them Weighing out evidence and uncertainty in the snow to make better decisions. Parent Toolkit for Kids Class
The Parent Toolkit for Kids class will be running on Monday nights, 5:30pm-7:30pm, from January 27th-February 24th at the Boys and Girls Club in Salida. This class is designed for parents and caregivers of children ages 9-14, to help them support their kids in making good choices. Some of the topics that will be covered include: The class is free of charge, and dinner will be provided! Free childcare will also be available for children up to age 14. Every Friday from 9-1 we will be Crafting at A Church! We have some ideas for crafts on hand or if you have a project you need to finish bring it out. We have some supplies for our suggested craft, but for some ideas you might have to bring something.... we suggest reusing what you have..... We can still make the mushroom garland but will be making holiday garland and other paper crafts. If you want to make the mushroom garland bring 6 hollowed out cuties (little oranges) cut in 1/2 and dried. ~Bring old cards or fun paper to make gift tags. ~Bring random yarn for yarn baskets. We also invite yo to sew, cross stitch, felt, etc. Charles will be here to teach basic skills about leatherwork. Lunch is provided by Pizza Rio!

Women's Intermediate Backcountry Skiing & Splitboarding Saturday, March 1, 2025 Women's Intermediate Backcountry Skiing & Splitboarding is a one-day course that builds your physical and intellectual backcountry knowledge so you can get the most out of your avalanche education and backcountry tour. During your intermediate group lesson, you will develop more advanced skinning, transition, and downhill techniques and be introduced to essential trip planning and navigation tools, weather observations, and avalanche forecasts. Enjoy a longer tour with multiple aspects.
