“Legacy” film at Chaffee County Fairgrounds sponsored by Chaffee County Public Health
November 13 @ 5:00 pm
Chaffee County, CO- In an effort to reduce stigma and foster open dialogue about mental health, Chaffee County Public Health (CCPH) is proud to partner with CSU Extension in an invitation to the public to join us for a community film screening event centered around the impacts of rural life. “Legacy” highlights the ups and downs of agriculture’s realities with real Colorado stories. You’ll learn about real people who have been impacted by mental health and what resources are available in our community. Join us for this important conversation!
Following the film, a community discussion will take place featuring mental health experts, film participants, community leaders, and representatives from the Farm and Ranch industry. This is an excellent opportunity to delve deeper into the film’s themes, engage in meaningful discussions, and explore the innovative initiatives being implemented in rural Colorado. We encourage everyone to participate and share their insights as we work together to break down barriers and foster mental well-being.
“We are honored that Colorado State University Extensions is helping CCPH to bring this important film about mental health in Farm and Ranch communities, along with local conversations, to Chaffee County. This is a topic that effects everyone, and we hope that the community can make time in their busy schedules to attend the film event and contributes to the dialogue around how to make Chaffee County Agriculture strong and resilient,” said Kirsten Love, CCPH Behavioral Health Coordinator/Navigator.
CCPH identified mental health as a topic priority in its 2021 Community Health Assessment and 2022-2026 Community Health Improvement Plan. For almost a decade, CCPH has been collaborating with community partners and stakeholders to ensure a robust local mental health system and the need has only grown in recent years.
