March Radness Steel City Slopestyle event

Monarch Mountain #1 Powder Place, Monarch, CO, United States

Monarch Mountain will host a terrain park slopestyle competition for all ages of snowboarders and skiers in its Steel City Terrain Park on Sunday, March 26, 2023. Registration for the March Radness Steel City Slopestyle event will take place the day of the competition on the Monarch Mountain deck between 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. for a cost of $20 per competitor. All competitors will be required to have a season pass or day ticket to access the lifts and compete as well as a signed release of liability waiver by a parent or guardian. A competitor meeting will be held at the top of the Steel City Terrain Park at 11:00 a.m. and the competition which includes two judged runs per competitor will begin at 11:15 a.m. Competitors will be judged on style, technique, and amplitude.  For more information, call 719-530-5013 or email kathryn@skimonarch.com

Fun Race: Sweetheart Race

  Register at the info tent between the lodge and patrol building desk between 9 am – 10:30 am.  $5 Per Person Registration Fee.   Everyone without a season pass will be asked to sign a waiver.  Racing will take place on Freeway between 11 am – 1 pm.  A lift ticket or season pass is required to access the lifts.  Race with your sweetheart! Teams of two will race head to head on Monarch’s Freeway racecourse. $5 per person registration fee and sign up will be day of at the info tent in the parking area between the lodge and patrol between 10:00 am – 10:30 am. Each team member will take two runs through the racecourse. One run on the blue course and one run on the red course. All ages and ability levels are welcome to race as Sweethearts. Skiers and snowboards can be sweethearts too!  “This is a fun race for all abilities. Each competitor will take one run on each of the head to head courses,” said Kathryn Wadsworth, Event Coordinator. “The combined times from each team member will determine the fastest Sweethearts.”

Town Challenge Race

Monarch Mountain will kick off its annual Town Challenge ski and snowboard races on January 21, 2022. New for 2022, Town Challenge will be scored using individual results only. There will be no team entries. Races will be held on Fridays, January 21, 28 February 4, 11, 25 and March 4, 2022, weather permitting. Entry forms and fees are due January 19, 2022. Entry fee is $25 per person payable at the Monarch Season Pass Desk. Registration is available at the season pass desk or online at Town Challenge Online Registration The Town Challenge is a series of six races. Competition categories include A-League Skiing, B-League Skiing, Snowboard, Masters (females older than 40, males older than 50) and Super Seniors (older than 62), telemark, and snowboard.  All skill levels are welcome to participate. “Everyone is welcome to take on the challenge of being a racer,” Monarch Event Coordinator Kathryn Wadsworth said. “Town Challenge is set up for the recreational skier, telemarker or snowboarder and races take place on Freeway near the base of Monarch Mountain ski area.” For more information and to register contact Event Coordinator Kathryn Wadsworth at kathryn@skimonarch.com or 719-530-5013.

Yea, kids! Be a part of Santa’s Christmas Eve ski and snowboard parade at Monarch Mountain. Meet Santa at the top of the Caterpillar lift at 1:00 PM on Christmas Eve. Santa will lead the parade down to the lodge and all participants will receive a candy cane at the end of the parade. No sign up is necessary but all participants will need a season pass or lift ticket to access Caterpillar surface lift, have their own equipment and able to ski and board on green runs, stop, and turn to the right and left. Following the parade, Image Makers photographers will be at the top of the Caterpillar taking pictures of Santa and children.
