Do you have what it takes to climb up the famed Gunbarrel Run and ski back down? Now is your chance to find out. Join us for this exciting hill climb at 1:00PM on April 16th, 2023. Participants can register for free from 11:30-12:30PM on the deck. The fastest finisher will received the coveted Golden Boot award.

The Annual Gunbarrel Challenge will take place on this day!

  Register at the info tent between the lodge and patrol building desk between 9 am – 10:30 am.  $5 Per Person Registration Fee.   Everyone without a season pass will be asked to sign a waiver.  Racing will take place on Freeway between 11 am – 1 pm.  A lift ticket or season pass is required to access the lifts.  Race with your sweetheart! Teams of two will race head to head on Monarch’s Freeway racecourse. $5 per person registration fee and sign up will be day of at the info tent in the parking area between the lodge and patrol between 10:00 am – 10:30 am. Each team member will take two runs through the racecourse. One run on the blue course and one run on the red course. All ages and ability levels are welcome to race as Sweethearts. Skiers and snowboards can be sweethearts too!  “This is a fun race for all abilities. Each competitor will take one run on each of the head to head courses,” said Kathryn Wadsworth, Event Coordinator. “The combined times from each team member will determine the fastest Sweethearts.”

Yea, kids! Be a part of Santa’s Christmas Eve ski and snowboard parade at Monarch Mountain. Meet Santa at the top of the Caterpillar lift at 1:00 PM on Christmas Eve. Santa will lead the parade down to the lodge and all participants will receive a candy cane at the end of the parade. No sign up is necessary but all participants will need a season pass or lift ticket to access Caterpillar surface lift, have their own equipment and able to ski and board on green runs, stop, and turn to the right and left. Following the parade, Image Makers photographers will be at the top of the Caterpillar taking pictures of Santa and children.

Last day Monarch lifts will be running.

It's Backcountry Day at Monarch Mountain! Join us as part of NSAA National Safety Month for backcountry education and activities. Check out backcountry merchandise vendors and take part in backcountry educational activities. Colorado Mtn College, Avalanche Science Program, https://coloradomtn.edu/programs/avalanche-science/, will conduct avi beacon demonstrations as well as leading a short backcountry tour. Participants taking part in uphill travel activities must sign an uphill waiver and purchase a $20.00 uphill pass. A junior terrain park competition in Tilt for little rippers under 15 years old to show off their best tricks.

Start Small, Make a Plan, Always Look, Respect the Features, and Take it Easy. It’s the Park Smart way. Spend the day on the park with tips and tricks from Monarch’s snowboard instructors.

Monarch Clinics Price $60 per session

Teams of two whose ages add up to 80+ will race head to head on Monarch’s Freeway race course.

Information on helmet fitting and the proper way for kids to ride a chair lift will be the focus of the day.

Monarch shows appreciation to veterans with a $35 lift ticket and free introduction clinics.

Learn about the back country. Snow safety educational events will be offered throughout the day. Demo the newest in back country equipment and learn about avalanche awareness.
