Parent Toolkit for Kids Class
The Parent Toolkit for Kids class will be running on Monday nights, 5:30pm-7:30pm, from January 27th-February 24th at the Boys and Girls Club in Salida. This class is designed for parents and caregivers of children ages 9-14, to help them support their kids in making good choices. Some of the topics that will be covered include: The class is free of charge, and dinner will be provided! Free childcare will also be available for children up to age 14. Synergy In the Service Industry Hosts Stand-Up for Mental Health Comedy Show at A Church!
Synergy in the Service Industry, a local nonprofit, has teamed up with the Yay Foundation to present Stand Up for Mental Health on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 6:00 PM at A Church in Salida. This exciting event aims to break the stigma surrounding mental health and promote open conversation, featuring comedy performances by local talent alongside Aidan Park, the Yay Foundation’s founder. In the lead-up to the event, the Yay Foundation will host three workshops to help food and beverage workers craft their own 5-minute comedy sets, encouraging vulnerability and connection through humor. The evening will also include a resource fair with local organizations and a drawing to raise funds for mental health sessions, further supporting this vital cause. Every Friday from 9-1 we will be Crafting at A Church! We have some ideas for crafts on hand or if you have a project you need to finish bring it out. We have some supplies for our suggested craft, but for some ideas you might have to bring something.... we suggest reusing what you have..... We can still make the mushroom garland but will be making holiday garland and other paper crafts. If you want to make the mushroom garland bring 6 hollowed out cuties (little oranges) cut in 1/2 and dried. ~Bring old cards or fun paper to make gift tags. ~Bring random yarn for yarn baskets. We also invite yo to sew, cross stitch, felt, etc. Charles will be here to teach basic skills about leatherwork. Lunch is provided by Pizza Rio!

As you may know, the Colorado Grain Chain and the Northwest & Rocky Mountain Regional Food Business Center (RFBC) are excited to announce the upcoming Colorado Grain Summit, taking place on March 8th in Salida, CO. Guided Snowshoe Adventure at Waterdog Lakes!
Join a CDT Gateway Community Ambassador from Salida for a guided snowshoe adventure near the Continental Divide on Saturday, March 8 at 9 AM! Participants will meet their guide at the Waterdog Lakes Trailhead at 9:00 AM for a 9:30 AM departure. The snowshoe will head up the trail for 1.5-2 miles towards the Continental Divide. The hike will be 4-5 miles maximum. This event is designed for people with some familiarity using snowshoes, or who are able to hike 4+ miles at a time. Please do not bring other types of equipment (e.g. skis). Snowshoes will be available to borrow, courtesy of Salida Mountain Sports. Please note that the CDTC program leader is AIARE 1 and Wilderness First Responder certified. Remember to dress warm, bring sunglasses, water, and a snack if needed. Please do not bring your pet to the program. Always prepare for changing weather conditions in the mountains! Carpooling to the event location is encouraged. Please register for the event and request to borrow equipment, if applicable, at this link. All participants must register themselves individually. In honor of International Women’s Day, Colorado TINTS will be hosting a fundraiser for our local chapter of Planned Parenthood. The Chaffee County Women's Day Faire and Festival will take place on Sunday March 9 from 1-7pm at A Church in Salida. The day will include theater performances, poetry readings, music, song and dance, as well as a market showcasing local female artists and women-owned businesses. Mountainfilm On Tour at the SteamPlant!
Mountainfilm on Tour is coming to Salida bringing a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and inspiring documentary films curated from the Mountainfilm festival held every Memorial Day weekend in Telluride, Colorado. Held at the Steamplant Event Center on March 13, the show will explore themes connected to Mountainfilm’s mission: to use the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world. Doors open for the event at 5:30pm and the show will kick off at 6pm. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase. Mountainfilm on Tour in Salida is hosted by the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association (GARNA) in partnership with Monarch Community Outreach, Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area, Salida Mountain Sports and Pinon Real Estate – Celia Adamec. Every Friday from 9-1 we will be Crafting at A Church! We have some ideas for crafts on hand or if you have a project you need to finish bring it out. We have some supplies for our suggested craft, but for some ideas you might have to bring something.... we suggest reusing what you have..... We can still make the mushroom garland but will be making holiday garland and other paper crafts. If you want to make the mushroom garland bring 6 hollowed out cuties (little oranges) cut in 1/2 and dried. ~Bring old cards or fun paper to make gift tags. ~Bring random yarn for yarn baskets. We also invite yo to sew, cross stitch, felt, etc. Charles will be here to teach basic skills about leatherwork. Lunch is provided by Pizza Rio!
