Foodshed Alliance Farmers Market in Salida

Considered one of Colorado’s most breathtaking regions, the Arkansas River Valley is home to expansive ranches and farmland. With its abundant resources, fresh water and mild climate, Foodshed Alliance’s earliest founders recognized the valley’s potential for supporting a local food economy. Experience the Arkansas River Valley and its local food systems at a Foodshed Alliance Farmers Market. With two locations - Buena Vista and Salida - Foodshed Alliance Farmers Markets showcase and complement some of Chaffee County’s most vibrant communities. Both farmers markets begin on Saturday June 1st 2024. The Buena Vista farmers market is held at Columbine Park (51 Linderman Avenue) from 9 am - 1 pm on Saturdays June 1st thru October 5th. The Salida farmers market is held at Alpine Park (404 E Street) from 8 am - 12 pm on Saturdays June 1st thru October 26th. Apply to be a vendor online or call us at 913-904-8207.

Chaffee County Recreation Adopters- Second Saturday Clean Up

Join the Chaffee Rec Adopters and the Second Saturday group from Valley Fellowship Church for a dispersed campsite cleanup on September 14! We'll be taking down fire rings, removing ash piles and potentially other projects. South Cottonwood Campsite Cleanup 9am - noonish  Bring: gloves, closed-toed shoes, shovels/rakes. Water bottle & food. Hat, long pants and sleeves recommended.  Water and light snacks provided. Contact Joe at adopters@envisionchaffeecounty.org for more info. Fall Car Show & Cruise

The Faricy Boys 931 US-50, Salida, CO

To register a vehicle for the car show, please email Joan Hapl at jhapl@faricysalida.com. The cost is $25 and all proceeds will be donated to Chaffee County Search and Rescue. The event includes a live DJ, local food trucks, awards and giveaways. Guest parking is available at NAPA Auto Parts or Stokes, across the street from the dealership. Participants and attendees are also invited to join a Cruise up Monarch Pass on Sunday, Sep. 15. Meet at The Faricy Boys at 9 a.m. “Central Colorado has an abundance of car enthusiasts who take pride in the hobby whether it’s as a collector or for sport,” states Brandon Bizzell, general manager, The Faricy Boys Salida. “We are delighted to bring the community together to celebrate the pastime and rally car lovers from throughout the region.”

Cowboy Music and Poetry Gathering

Poncha Springs Town Hall

Join the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Chipeta Chapter, on September 14th, from 5-9pm for their Cowboy Music and Poetry Gathering! This is a fundraising event for Wreaths Across America. Tickets are $35 and includes dinner, non-alcoholic drink, dessert, entertainment and three wreaths. The event will take place at the Poncha Springs Town Hall. Tickets are available at chipetadar.com/ , or at the Sugarbush Campground, the Hodgepodge, and the Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce.

Banana Belt Mountain Bike Race

On September 15th, Salida Mountain Trails is bringing the Banana Belt back to its historical location on Methodist Mountain. After a multi-year hiatus due to the 2019 Decker Fire, the ride will return to its classic course along the Rainbow Trail, finishing this year with a fun, flowy cruise down the beloved Solstice Trail. Race to be Top Banana, or party pace your way to the finish line. Registration includes free socks, lunch from our friends at Sweetie's Sandwich Shop and Soulcraft Brewing (N/A beverages available too), and a guaranteed good time on some of the sweetest singletrack in the state. PLUS: All proceeds benefit two local nonprofits committed to making outdoor recreation fun and safe: Salida Mountain Trails (SMT), and our emergency medical partner, Chaffee County Search and Rescue South (CCSARS).  Sign up today, and we’ll see you in September!
