Attention all Jedi, Sith, and galactic enthusiasts! Salida Regional Library is thrilled to announce the "May The Fourth Be With You Film Festival" at 2 pm on May 4th at High Side Bar & Grill. This year, we ask individuals, businesses, and organizations to create their own TikTok or YouTube Star Wars 15-60 second training video showcasing their unique work or home galaxy. Competing for the title of the galaxy's best with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies is a great way to connect with the community and get your message out. Examples from last year. Light Saber Hacks, Equal Representation Whether you're a Padawan mastering the Force or a seasoned Jedi Knight, this is a chance to share your message with our community using a Star Wars twist. Even if you don't make a film, gather your droids and join us to watch the film submissions, make fun crafts, get temporary tattoos, and hang out at High Side! May the Force guide you to victory!

On Sunday, May 5th, 2024, Cinco de Mayo, Bradfield/Ramsey Real Estate Team with Kellar Williams will be hosting a Red Day Food Drive at Tres Litros Beer Co. from 4-7pm. The book’s immediate success forces him to get deeper enmeshed in his assumed identity and challenges his closely-held worldviews. Film is Rated R. Winner of the 2024 Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.

The Chaffee County “We Are Chaffee” storytelling initiative has been developing a community-focused documentary for the past year and is hosting two film premieres and several free showings throughout the county this summer and fall. The dates for the premieres of “A Home in Paradise” have been set for Friday May 10th as part of the Salida Film Festival and will include a panel discussion with the people who share their stories in the film, the directors and producers, and local experts on housing and health. Join us after the premiere for an upscale social with appetizers & desserts by Kalamatapit & a cash bar. Take your turn on the red carpet & photo booth. ~ Red Carpet Attire Encouraged ~ Music provided by the local musicians who created the music for the film. Tickets can be purchased at the Salida SteamPlant website, April 22nd. The second premiere date is Wednesday, June 5th at the Salida SteamPlant and will be a free community event with only registration required.
