Free Electronics Recycling Events

Sustainable Salida and the Heart of the Rockies/Salida Chamber of Commerce have partnered with Chaffee County to host Free Electronics Recycling Events at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds. This event is held every year in May. Please call 719-539-2068 if you have any questions.

The following items are accepted:

  • Computer Monitors
  • Computers & Accessories
  • Cell Phones
  • Printers
  • Tablets
  • Hair Dryers
  • Curling Irons
  • Electric Shavers
  • Small lawn care electronics
  • Microwaves
  • Any electronic device that plugs in or runs on batteries
  • Televisions*

* There is a $30 fee per television for proper recycling. All other items are free to drop-off.

The following items are NOT accepted:

  • Ovens/Stoves
  • Fridges
  • Dishwashers
  • Water heaters
  • Freezers
  • Washers
  • Dryers
  • Gas or electric grills
  • Any other large electronics

Hazardous Waste Recycling Events

Sustainable Salida also offers Hazardous Waste Recycling Events, but none are currently scheduled.

  • Tree limbs/branches (CLEAN yard waste): Chaffee County Landfill, 719-539-3738. (Clean yard waste is used to produce mulch that you can use in your landscaping. Mulch costs $20 for a front-end loader bucketful.) Tree branches 1/2″ to 8″ diameter for $10 a trailer. Above 8″ tonnage rate applies.

Mail In Return Programs

  • Most printer companies offer a free return program for printer hardware and ink cartridges! Check to see if your printer company offers said program
    (Epson, HP, Canon, Brother, Samsung, etc.).
Sustainable Salida sponsors the only free electronics recycling events in Chaffee County.
Three companies offer curbside household waste recycling in Chaffee County.
Curbside recycling companies also accept junk mail and office paper.
Sherwin Williams in Salida and True Value Hardware in Buena Vista will recycle old latex or oil-base paint.
The Chaffee County Landfill will accept clean yard waste, which is then used to produce mulch.
