New Years Day 5K!

January 1st, 2024 at Riverside Park from 10 AM - 12 PM The New Year's Day 5k registration is open! Come join Salida Parks and Recreation on Monday, January 1st, 2024 at Riverside Park from 10 AM - 12PM. This event is a fun way to kick off the new year on the right foot! Wear your best costume and walk or run this beautiful 5k course from downtown Salida leading out the Monarch Spur Trail and back into town. Click HERE to register now! Registering online before the event will be $10. Day-of registration will be available but the price will increase to $25, so make sure to register as soon as possible. Volunteers Needed! During the workshop Warren will engage the audience, guiding them along the path of gaining insight into the strategic approach to targeting the right role and right company, thus enabling individuals to reshape their current perspective and force self-reflection. He will then explore with the audience practical techniques to articulate their value to rise above the competition thus narrowing their interview presentation into what is really important. The focus will be to help the attendees master differentiation during the interview process. Participants will leave this workshop with practical strategies which will vastly improve their interview performance going forward.

Poncha Springs Town Hall to Feature County Commission

The first meeting in 2024 of The League of Women Voters of Chaffee County will be a town hall session with the Chaffee County Commissioners. On Monday, January 8th,  Commission Chair Keith Baker will give a brief overview and update followed by descriptions from commissioners Greg Felt and P.T. Wood of their specific areas of responsibility. Questions and answers will follow. Those who cannot attend and have a question, may email their questions to info@lwvchaffeecounty.org before January 3. The program will be held at the Poncha Springs Town Hall (330 Burnett Ave, Poncha Springs) from noon to 1 p.m. and will be preceded by a League business meeting and social beginning at 11:15 a.m.  A recording of the program will be available on the League website at lwvchaffeecounty.org a day or two after the meeting. “This is an annual event we try to bring to our communities,” said Karen Dills, LWVCC program leader.  “It’s always informative and a very helpful session.”
