Envision Chaffee County invites the public to attend the next Chaffee Recreation Taskforce meeting to join a discussion about public lands management for the coming tourism season.

Meeting bi-monthly and open to the public, the task force connects diverse stakeholders to work together under the Chaffee County Outdoor Recreation Management Plan to manage visitation for a healthy environment, excellent experiences and local economic benefit.  

The meeting will address heightened concern about how federal staffing cuts might impact local public lands. Federal agencies manage about 80 percent of the lands in Chaffee County, which are vital to quality of life and the local economy as they are the place to go for hiking, biking, wildlife watching and many other outdoor activities.  

Taskforce meeting participants will learn about developing federal agency needs, potential funding gaps and coming volunteer opportunities.
