UAACOG was formed in 1974 under Federal Legislation and State Executive Order allowing the formation of “regional councils.” There are 14 planning and management regions in Colorado. The purpose of the organization is to provide community services on a regional basis that are not practical or efficient to provide on an individual county or municipal basis. Services have evolved over the years, but the benefits are more important than ever.

Non-profit organization whose goal is to conserve, protect and restore North America’s cold water fisheries and their watersheds. Activities include habitat restoration projects, stream enhancement, educational classes for all ages (fly casting, fly tying, water quality, entomology, etc), fishing outings, clean-ups, informative programs, etc. Meetings alternate between Salida and Buena Vista on the second Wednesday of the month. “Service above Self.” Rotary is an international service organization. In Salida, Rotary is the largest service organization with 60 active members – known locally for the Band Shell in Riverside Park, scholarships given annually to deserving high-school students, for the annual Memorial Day Bluegrass Festival, 4th of July Beer Garden, and for the many contributions given annually to needy community organizations.
