City of Salida Invites Community to Land Use Code and Zoning Map Meeting

April 22 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The City of Salida invites residents, business owners, developers, and other stakeholders to a public meeting introducing the consolidated draft Land Use Code and new draft Zoning Map on Tuesday, April 22nd from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the SteamPlant Event Center. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided.

Salida has not undergone a comprehensive rewrite of its Land Use Code in nearly 15 years.  The community has obviously seen significant changes since then, and it is time for an update. The draft Land Use Code and Zoning Map are built on the foundation of the Future Land Use Mapping process completed in 2022 and 2023. Together, they implement key elements of Salida’s Comprehensive Plan, shaping how the community will grow and develop in the years to come—guiding both opportunities and limitations.

“This is just the beginning of the next chapter of public feedback,” said Bill Almquist, Director of Community Development for the City of Salida. “We want the community to understand what’s proposed, why it matters, and how to stay engaged.”

Meeting Highlights:

  • Overview of the consolidated draft Land Use Code and proposed Zoning Map
  • Explanation of how the documents align with Salida’s Comprehensive Plan
  • Opportunity for Q&A and initial public input
  • Details on upcoming opportunities for more detailed feedback
  • Recording of the presentation will be available on the City’s website after the event

The final draft is expected to move forward for Planning Commission and City Council consideration later this summer. Public input will continue to play a critical role throughout that process.

The draft Land Use Code and proposed Zoning Map will be available on the website prior to the meeting at: www.cityofsalida.com/commdev
