Celebrate the spring migration with a birding-themed open house at the new Valley View Nature Learning Center with GARNA’s birding club and Colorado Parks & Wildlife. Free family-friendly event to learn about common local birds and local birding activities. Kids' activities and light refreshments.  

The Stage & Rail Historic Route is a 75-mile route from Salida to Leadville that follows historic stagecoach and railroad corridors. The tour will start at the F Street bridge in downtown Salida, where we will board the GARNA vans and head north. We will finish at “The Tunnels” just north of Buena Vista. Join the 34th Annual Cleanup-Greenup, co-sponsored by Colorado Parks & Wildlife (CPW) and the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association (GARNA).  Volunteers will work together to clean up 152 miles of the Arkansas River watershed in preparation for Spring runoff. Lunch is included for volunteers at Riverside Park. After the cleanup, join us for the Gear Up For Summer event, also being held at Riverside Park.  Other community organizations will be present, helping our local community to gear up for a safe and fun summer including free PFDs for youth.  Details at GARNA.org
