“Ski Ballet on Freeway!” – A New Monarch Mountain Event!

Get ready for a wild, wacky, and wonderfully retro way to close out Monarch Mountain’s 2025 ski season! Introducing “Ski Ballet on Freeway!” – a brand-new showcase event happening on April 5, 2025, at Monarch Mountain. This fun-filled competition and spectator event will bring back the lost art of Ski Ballet, where costumed competitors perform choreographed routines to music of their choice, judged on style, artistic display, and technical execution. Expect high-energy performances, big laughs, and impressive moves as we celebrate the end of the season in the most entertaining way possible! 📍 Where: Freeway Trail at Monarch Mountain (easily accessible for spectators) 🎶 What to Expect: Costumed competitors, sponsor activations, live music, and a festive atmosphere! 🎟 Spectator Viewing & Vendor Area: Free and open to the public 🎯 Expected Attendance: 3,000+ people Why Get Involved? Sponsorships, tents, tables, and banners will be showcased throughout the venue and base area, putting your business in front of a large, engaged audience. Sponsorship levels begin at $500 and can be met through a cash donation with proceeds going directly to Monarch Mountain Community Outreach and KHEN Radio or by offering $500 worth of value through prizes, give-a-ways, coupons, tastings, activities or other fun ideas. The Chaffee Home & Garden Show returns at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 5 & Sunday, April 6, 2025. Workshop: Salida Community Mosaic Project

Thursdays in April | 12:00 - 2:00pm @ Rotary Scout Hut The City of Salida Creative District program presents the Community Mosaic Project with artist Anne Walker. Join mosaic artist Anne Walker in creating the Salida Community Mosaic project! Help bring to life a 60-foot-long mosaic wall featuring fish swimming in a river, to be installed at Chisholm Park on the wall surrounding the playground. All adults and teens are invited to participate in free mosaic-making workshops. No experience is needed—just come ready to create! All materials are provided. The City of Salida Arts & Culture and Salida Council for the Arts presents monthly Creative Mixers! Join us at the Steam Plant each month as Salida Arts & Culture presents the monthly art exhibit in the Paquette Gallery and the Salida Council for the Arts hosts a reception and chance to meet other art supporters. Meet the artists, hear about the exhibit, network, and participate in the Soapbox tradition- where artists and organizations can make announcements about upcoming events, shows, and programs. From visual art, dance, music, theatre, and more, discover ways to get involved in Salida's vibrant arts scene! Enjoy live music and light refreshments. A cash bar is available. This event is free and open to the public. The dates for the 2025 Creative Mixers are Feb 6, March 5, April 10, May 1, June 12, July 10, August 7, September 5, October 9, November 13, and December 11. Crafting, Sewing and Leatherwork at A Church

Every Friday from 9-1 we will be Crafting at A Church! We have some ideas for crafts on hand or if you have a project you need to finish bring it out. We have some supplies for our suggested craft, but for some ideas you might have to bring something.... we suggest reusing what you have..... We can still make the mushroom garland but will be making holiday garland and other paper crafts. If you want to make the mushroom garland bring 6 hollowed out cuties (little oranges) cut in 1/2 and dried. ~Bring old cards or fun paper to make gift tags. ~Bring random yarn for yarn baskets. We also invite yo to sew, cross stitch, felt, etc. Charles will be here to teach basic skills about leatherwork. Lunch is provided by Pizza Rio!
