Forest Service Announces Hiring of Temporary Fire Positions

March 10, 2025: The Rocky Mountain Region of the USDA Forest Service is hiring up to 50 temporary wildland firefighters and fire support positions for the 2025 fire year across national forests and grasslands in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Firefighter positions include engine operators, hotshot crew members, handcrew members, helitack crew members, fuels technicians, fire lookouts, dispatchers, and other fire support positions.

Job information, including duty locations and application details, is available online on the Forest Service Careers webpage. Job seekers can apply for the firefighter and fire jobs through USAJobs.gov until March 13, 2025.

Any U.S. citizen or national 18 years of age can apply. Hiring managers will use a Direct Hire Authority to hire applicants, which means meaning Veterans’ Preference and traditional rating and ranking of applicants do not apply.
