Details
The Salida Fiber Festival, started in 2012 and conducted entirely by volunteers, has become one of the premier events in Central Colorado and one of the most diverse and well-attended fiber festivals in the West.
The Salida Fiber Festival is held the first Saturday and Sunday after Labor Day.
Vendors
Featuring vendors focused on all aspects of textiles, including fiber-related activities and demonstrations, a make-and-take activity tent, a silent auction tent featuring a variety of goods donated by vendors and Salida businesses, and a tree-shaded beer garden offering local beer, wine, and distilled drinks.
Demos & Events
Every year the activity tent hosts demos, youth activities, and a variety of festival related off-site surprises such as the annual Fiber Arts Exhibition, a fiber related film, and many galleries and businesses host fiber inspired events. Check in at the info booth for a program.
Silent Auction
Three times during the weekend, we hold a silent auction of donations from vendors and Chaffee County businesses, which helps fund the following year’s festival. In addition to an amazing array of yarns, fibers, fiber tools, and knitted and crocheted items, this year’s Saturday morning Silent Auction will feature a “Shop Salida” section, including a number of gift certificates and items donated by local businesses. Stop by, place a bid, and help support not only next year’s festival, but also our business community.
Activity Tent
Not just for children, the Activity Tent gives festival visitors the chance to try three easy fiber activities, and take home the product of their efforts. Volunteers will be showing kids of all ages how to make yarn ropes, yarn pom-pons, and medicine-bottle beads. Come in and get creative!
Food & Drink
In the shade of 100-year-old trees, the Beer Garden is a great place to stop for a moment, relax, show off your purchases and try a local libation. We feature beers from Soulcraft Brewing, wines from Vino Salida winery, and a gin punch from Wood’s Distillery, any one of which is perfect for a Salida September day.
