Classical Guitarist Hao Yang at the Salida Aspen Concerts Summer Series
Classical guitarist Hao Yang will perform Saturday August 1st, at the Salida Aspen Concerts 50th Anniversary Summer Series.
The cherished summer tradition, presented in partnership with the Aspen Music Festival and School, brings world-class musicians to Salida for six Saturday evening performances running weekly from July 11 through Aug. 15.
Hailed as a “technical wizard” by Cleveland Classical, Chinese guitarist Hao Yang has earned international recognition through major competition wins and performances. Yang actively engages in solo and chamber music performances. She has appeared as a soloist with the Chusachsische Philharmonie in Germany. Yang was a guest soloist at the Cleveland, Panama, and Beijing International Guitar Festivals and has performed concerts in major venues such as the Carnegie Hall, the Kimmel Center, New York Subculture, Miller Theatre at Columbia University, and Princeton Sound Kitchen. Yang made her Carnegie Hall debut premiering the guitar duo ‘Talking Guitars’ by renowned composer Paul Lansky with JIJI. She performed on the PCMS series as a guest collaborator and was a guest artist at the Concordia Chamber Festival. As a recording artist, she has worked with the Grammy award-winning label Bridge Records Inc. on multiple new chamber works by Paul Lansky and Poul Ruders. In 2021, Yang won the Astral Artists’ National Audition and her other competitive prizes include the top prizes at the Koblenz International Guitar Competition Hubert Käppel 2024, 54th Markneukirchen International Instrumental competition in Germany, second prize at the GFA International Concert Artist Competition, first prizes at GFA International Youth Competition, CSU International Guitar Competition, and Andres Segovia 7th International Guitar Competition. She was a recipient of the Clifton Foundation’s Emerging Artists Award. Yang holds a BM from the Curtis Institute of Music, MM from Lamont School of Music, and is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at the Yale School of Music.
Salida Aspen Concerts, Inc., is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and its Summer Concert Series is a collaboration with the renowned Aspen Music School and Festival. Regular admission is $30, with free admission for all K–12 students. An adult accompanying a K–12 student receives half-price admission.

Aug. 8: Steven Spooner, a new faculty member at Aspen Music Festival and School. Spooner’s uniquely compelling performances have been hailed worldwide. He has released more than 45 recordings, including a monumental 10-volume Liszt survey. At times he daringly reinvents the solo recital, allowing audiences to vote on the spot for one of five programs he has prepared.
Aug. 15: Edgar Meyer, double bass, and Amy Yang, piano. Meyer’s styles include classical, bluegrass, newgrass and jazz. He has won seven Grammy Awards and been nominated 10 times. Visiting professor of double bass at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, he has performed with many other musicians and in a great variety of venues. Yang has played in most major music venues from Carnegie Hall to Salida. She is an alumna of the Curtis Institute of Music, the Juilliard School and the Yale School of Music.
