This is a Pulitzer Prize-winning play that centers on Catherine, the daughter of a recently deceased, brilliant but mentally ill mathematician. The story unfolds as Catherine deals with her father's death, her estranged sister Claire, and the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father's, who discovers a groundbreaking mathematical proof among her father's notebooks. The play explores the relationship between genius and madness, the complexities of family dynamics, and the fear that Catherine may have inherited her father's instability.

Parent Toolkit for Kids Class
Fall is here, and the Parent Toolkit for Kids class is returning to Salida! This free, five-session class is designed to support parents and caregivers of children ages 9–14 in guiding their kids to make healthy choices during the teen years. We’ll be hosting the class at the Boys & Girls Club in Salida on the following Mondays: November 10, 17, and December 1, 8, and 15, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Dinner and childcare will also be provided at no cost. Topics covered in the class include: Promoting health and well-being during the teen years Developing healthy beliefs and clear standards Dealing with anger in a positive way Helping kids say NO, keep their friends, and still have fun Strengthening family bonds

Trailhead Tuesday – Avalanche Awareness
Join us for the season’s first Trailhead Tuesday as we kick things off with Avalanche Awareness on December 02nd from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at The Trailhead gear store, 402 East Main Street in Buena Vista, Colorado. This event is well-attended, so bring your own camp chair and consider coming early to grab food and a drink from Simple Eatery next door. This new Avalanche Awareness presentation was created in partnership with the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE), the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC), and the Northwest Avalanche Center (NWAC). A professional BVMA Sawatch Range mountain guide will lead it. The event is open to all experience levels, whether you are just beginning to explore the winter backcountry or you’ve been touring for years. This talk is a perfect entry point or a solid preseason refresher. Connect with the Chaffee County backcountry community, ask questions, and get ready for the winter season in the Sawatch Range.

Crafting, Sewing and Leatherwork at A Church
Every Friday from 9-1 we will be Crafting at A Church! We have some ideas for crafts on hand or if you have a project you need to finish bring it out. We have some supplies for our suggested craft, but for some ideas you might have to bring something.... we suggest reusing what you have..... We can still make the mushroom garland but will be making holiday garland and other paper crafts. If you want to make the mushroom garland bring 6 hollowed out cuties (little oranges) cut in 1/2 and dried. ~Bring old cards or fun paper to make gift tags. ~Bring random yarn for yarn baskets. We also invite yo to sew, cross stitch, felt, etc. Charles will be here to teach basic skills about leatherwork. Lunch is provided by Pizza Rio!

The City of Salida Arts & Culture Creative District Program presents First Fridays! Join us every first Friday of the month in the Salida Creative District as galleries and creative businesses in Salida’s historic downtown stay open later so you can talk with an artist, watch a demo, or find that perfect piece of art. From painting to sculpture, ceramics, photography, plein air, jewelry, fiber art and more, enjoy a festive evening downtown as you drop into one of Salida’s many businesses to see new art, live music, and light refreshments! Participate in the Palette Card program where you can get a stamp at each business you visit. Redeem your completed card at the host gallery for an art mini while supplies last. First Fridays are free to attend and open to the public.
