The City of Salida Arts & Culture Creative District Program presents First Fridays! Join us every first Friday of the month in the Salida Creative District as galleries and creative businesses in Salida’s historic downtown stay open later so you can talk with an artist, watch a demo, or find that perfect piece of art. From painting to sculpture, ceramics, photography, plein air, jewelry, fiber art and more, enjoy a festive evening downtown as you drop into one of Salida’s many businesses to see new art, live music, and light refreshments! Participate in the Palette Card program where you can get a stamp at each business you visit. Redeem your completed card at the host gallery for an art mini while supplies last. First Fridays are free to attend and open to the public. |

The Salida Mountain Series is presented by Buena Vista Mountain Adventures (BVMA) in partnership with Salida Mountain Sports (SMS). This free community event builds skills, sparks conversation, and connects people who love the mountains. Join us on February 10th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Salida Mountain Sports, located at 110 F Street, Salida, Colorado, for Backcountry Mapping and Tour Planning. This month’s topic is all about backcountry mapping and tour planning. Learn how to preview terrain, identify route options, and build a tour plan using digital mapping tools. We will walk through mapping software, apps, and planning techniques that make navigation and route finding easier before you go and once you are out in the field. A professional BVMA Sawatch Range mountain guide will lead it. The event is open to all experience levels whether you are just beginning to explore the winter backcountry or you’ve been touring for years. This talk is a perfect entry point or a solid preseason refresher. Connect with the Chaffee County backcountry community, bring your curiosity and a friend, ask questions, and get ready for the winter season in the Sawatch Range. |

The AIARE Avalanche Rescue + Wilderness First Aid course is a three day training that blends hands-on avalanche rescue skills with essential wilderness medical care. You will learn how to use a transceiver, probe, and shovel to locate and extract a buried partner and how to assess, treat, and stabilize injuries in remote winter terrain.
