Join on June 30th for Salida’s own Harriet Alexander Airport fly-in and Airshow will take place throughout the weekend. The fly-in brings to Salida pilots from all over the Rockies and the Front Range, to spend the weekend enjoying all we have to offer in our beautiful valley. The airshow held on Saturday will bring in both military and general aviation aircraft and feature static displays as well as fly-bys and demonstrations. They expect many vintage aircraft as well as a display of vintage cars, and they are planning on having a traditional pancake breakfast at the airport, on Saturday morning.

The Salida Arts Festival on July 21st-22nd brings 100 juried artists who work in jewelry, ceramics, wood/sculpture furniture, painting/prints, photography and mixed media/textiles to Centennial Park, 410 W. Hwy 50 (next to the Hot Springs Aquatic Center). The three day festival will not include any amplified music, food booths or liquor sales.
The Chaffee County Fair and Rodeo will be held July 21 – 29, showcasing the biggest pumpkins, the newest gizmos and the toughest rodeo cowgirls and cowboys in the county.
The 25th Annual Angel of Shavano Car Show is presented by the Salida Sunrise Rotary on August 4. It is the major annual fundraiser for the Chaffee County Search and Rescue South. Welcome the holidays during Salida’s Christmas Mountain Lighting and Parade of Lights held annually on the day after Thanksgiving (Nov. 23, 2017). Riverside Park is officially transformed into Holiday Park and Tenderfoot Hill (“S” Mountain) is lit up as Christmas Mountain. Festivities start with a parade on F Street from 5th to Riverside Park’s Holiday Park, followed by an open house with free cocoa, cookies and entertainment at the SteamPlant Event Center. Downtown shops and galleries have extended hours, and local restaurants and bars are bustling with activity.
