88.1 KCME/KMPZ is an independent, public radio station that was founded in 1979. KCME broadcasts classical music, 24-hours a day with programming that appeals to adults as well as younger listeners. Programs include ”KCME Culture Zone,” “Live from the Metropolitan Opera,” and “Classics for Kids,”– introducing young listeners to classical music.
KCME is primarily supported by its members. KCME broadcasts in the Chaffee County area on 88.1 KMPZ– and has been part of the Chaffee County broadcast presence since 1999. In October 2021 we launched our 24-hour jazz service on 89.5 FM.
