Business of the Month and Ribbon Cuttings: February ’17

Business of the Month: Boathouse Cantina

Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce awarded its February Business of the Month honors to Boathouse Cantina.

Lori Roberts, chamber executive director, presented the heart plaque to Boathouse Cantina and said the business was nominated by a group of its local peers for its community work.

“They have donated roughly $75,000 through their 1-percent donation program to Salida Mountain Trails,” Roberts said. “That’s for maintenance and additional trails. They also, with charitable organizations, try their best to give back in the entire community.”

Patrick Payne, Boathouse Cantina chief operating officer, said requests to aid charitable organizations are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Payne said some of the organizations the restaurant regularly helps are Chaffee County Search and Rescue, local school systems, buying local, Family & Youth Initiatives, Guidestone, Articipate, Trout Unlimited, Salida Racing, Chaffee County United, FIBArk, Salida SteamPlant, Alliance Against Domestic Abuse, Salida Artwalk, Full Circle Restorative Justice, Arkansas River Trust, Chaffee County First Responders and the annual fireworks show.

Payne said he recognizes how much and how often people and businesses in the community give back.

“For us to be chosen for this award is a big honor,” Payne said. “This is a big thanks to the community because without them, not only would we not be able to give back this much, but we wouldn’t be here without their support.”
