Business of the Month and Ribbon Cuttings: October ’17

Business of the Month: The Apple Doctor

The Apple Doctor earned Business of the Month honors for October from Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce.

Lori Roberts, chamber executive director, said The Apple Doctor received the recognition for the actions the business does outside of its usual work.

“You’ve conducted a complimentary security meeting at the (Salida) SteamPlant to inform the community of online security, you’ve provided complimentary iPhone and iPad classes in Salida and Buena Vista,” she said.

Roberts said The Apple Doctor earned the honor for support of ventures such as Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, Trout Unlimited, the William Boddy scholarship fund, donation of Apple Doctor gift certificates for auctions and some free services for the elderly.

“The list goes on … . You’ve been recognized by The Wall Street Journal regarding cybersecurity,” Roberts said. “You’re really out there to help us keep our computers and all those important documents safe.”

Owner David Kisiel said, “It’s been a lot of fun” working with people and educating them on Apple products.

He said customers enjoy not having to make the long drive out of town to service their technology.

“When people find out we’re here, they light up because they don’t have to drive to the Front Range,” Kisiel said. “It’s nice to be able to provide these services for people here in our community.”

He said one of the more enjoyable parts of their work is the one-on-one training. Kisiel said they “get a kick” out of being able to help people who have questions about their products.

“You see their eyes light up, and they say they didn’t know we could do these things,” Kisiel said.

“It’s also to keep them safe. We’re seeing an increase of cyber problems on the computers. It’s nice to be able to provide that protection for the community.”

Stephen Turner, whom Kisiel said they call “The Intern,” is also on site and available to help with repairs. Turner’s mother, Sherry, with Vista Insurance, also occupies a space at the office, which is owned by Sherry Turner.
