Arkansas River Tours – Job Openings

Come have a Summer you will never forget on the Arkansas River in beautiful Colorado! Arkansas River Tours (ART) has been a whitewater rafting outfitter since 1973 and has much history on the river. We focus on safety, adventure, leadership, equality and the environment. Our team is very tight knit. We raft 4 sections: Browns Canyon, Cottonwood Canyon, Bighorn Sheep and the Royal Gorge. All levels of excitement to bring great memories to our guides and guests. Employee housing is available for those interested, but there is also much housing in the surrounding areas. The season is mid-May through August.

 

Raft Guide:

Come on the river and give guests an experience they will never forget! Spend your days outside on the river and learn the techniques of being a commercial river raft guide.

Guide Trainees:

  • Once interviewed, you will be invited to a weeklong intensive training
  • Become CPR & First Aid certified
  • Learn how to navigate the River at all levels in all sections
  • Provide excellent customer service to our guests
  • Teach our guests how to paddle properly
  • Learn and execute all safety measures on and off the river

Experienced Raft Guides:

  • Perform a “check out” prior to starting so we can test your skills
  • Receive updated CPR & First Aid certification
  • Guide on one of the best rivers in the world

Requirements:

  • Love for the outdoors!
  • Enjoys customer service
  • Must be able to physically lift up to 100lbs and row a boat with high physical stamina on a daily basis
  • Must be able to make quick decisions in high pressure situations
  • Loves to have fun!
  • Teamwork and lending a hand wherever needed
  • Reliability and flexibility

Office/Front Desk Team Lead/Supervisor

We are seeking a Full-time Office Team Lead for our main office in Cotopaxi, CO. This position is responsible for all the day to day activities of the office team, however will be overseeing the staff as well as making sure things run smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the office team staff at both locations
  • Scheduling office staff
  • Making sure staff follows procedures
  • Making sure all reservations and groups are ready to go for the following day
  • Making reservations
  • Checking in customers
  • Photo & Retail Sales
  • Ensuring the store is organized, clean and inventory is stocked
  • Balancing Cash register
  • Cleaning bathrooms
  • Helping with food coordination for trips
  • Jumping in wherever is necessary

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Supervisory or team lead experience
  • Accounting skills

Fly Fishing Raft Guide

Come have a Summer you will never forget on the Arkansas River in beautiful Colorado! Arkansas River Tours (ART) has been a whitewater rafting outfitter since 1973 and has much history on the river. We focus on safety, adventure, leadership, equality and the environment. Our team is very tight knit. We raft 4 sections: Browns Canyon, Cottonwood Canyon, Bighorn Sheep and the Royal Gorge. All levels of excitement to bring great memories to our guides and guests. Employee housing is available for those interested, but there is also much housing in the surrounding areas. Fly Fishing & Raft Guide:

Come on the river and give guests an experience they will never forget! Spend your days outside on the river and learn the techniques of being a commercial river raft guide. We are seeking someone who wants to whitewater raft AND has experience in Fly Fishing- personal or professional. We have fly fishing trips where we need guides to be whitewater certified so this will be a mixed role. In our business, there is more whitewater rafting that straight fly fishing but we need some guides who can do both.

Guide Trainees:

  • Once interviewed, you will be invited to a weeklong intensive training
  • Become CPR & First Aid certified
  • Learn how to navigate the River at all levels in all sections
  • Provide excellent customer service to our guests
  • Teach our guests how to paddle properly
  • Learn and execute all safety measures on and off the river
  • Have a love for Fly Fishing and be able to assist guests in their fishing experience and know the techniques and “lingo”

Experienced Raft Guides:

CDL Bus Driver

Do you love working with people and spending your time in a fun outdoor environment? We are seeking CDL  Bus Drivers for the Summer season!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure buses are up to safety regulations
  • Transport guests to various trip locations on the Arkansas River
  • Take pictures if necessary
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Have fun!

Requirements:

  • Current CDL license highly desired or ability to acquire CDL with Class B-P2 endorsements
  • Ability to assist passengers in getting on and off vehicles;
  • Ability and experience in working effectively with the public;
  • 19 years of age or older;
  • Knowledge of and ability to read gauges, operate controls, pedals, levers, and switches found on buses and vans
  • Previous bus driving experience desirable.
  • Ability to adhere to all CDL federal and local regulations including drug and medical screening
